Historical Significance

The Veterans Administration Hospital District in Waco, Texas was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1994 under Criteria A and C in the areas of Architecture, Politics/Government, and Health/Medicine with a period of significance of 1930-1945. The district is significant due to the distinctive architecture of its buildings, and its site plan, both of which are intact and retain a high degree of integrity. It is also significant due to its association with the national effort to improve care for veterans in the aftermath of World War I and World War II.
